Fire Dancing Empty
PostSubject: Fire Dancing   Fire Dancing Icon_minitimeTue Jul 26, 2011 4:22 pm

Technique list name: Fire dancer style

Overview: The fire dancing style has, actually, very little to do with dancing, but is simply called fire dancing for lack of a better word. It stems from fire breathing, the kind one sees in a circus, and other smaller fire tricks, combined with the agility and sometimes tricks of an athlete. The user tries to evade being hit as much as possible, while still getting hits in. Keeping distance can be of use, but it depends strongly on how the style is used. The techniques reach from medium to close range, rarely long range, they can deal heavy damage or barely serve as a distraction, be designed to attack many targets or only one (but mostly many targets at once). In the end, this is fire we are talking about, and of course it can burn anyone, so it might be dangerous to use for an unexperienced or reckless fire breather. What can be said is that it is a highly flexible style, as flexible as the user can wield the fire. For more advanced techniques, smaller explosives may or may not be used.

User: Paige Conleth

History: Paige, who grew up in a circus was originally meant to be an athlete, she had the right statue and high agility, and she showed great talent for the field. For years and years, she trained this, until, long story short, she turned seven. On that day, her birthday, the firebreather Michael gave her a free performance of his skills, and from that point, she has been obsessed with fire. She begged him to train her, and finally, he gave in. Since then, she has been working on her skills as a firebreather. Of course, the idea to combine her athletic skills with her firebreathing was something she and Michael had early on, and their performances were great to watch, but, at that point, not meant for fighting. It was only when Linette left with a friend, who wanted to be a pirate, that she had to learn how to fight, and what was closer than to use skills she already had. So, from something meant to bring joy to spectators, they slowly figured out how to use it to cause heavy destruction. The style was soon dubbed fire dancing for it's hypnotic looks (after all, it was meant for show in the first place), and because fire athletics sounded too dumb.

Techniques:

-Level zero-

Name: Burning strikes
Type: Torch or Baton move (baton must be burnable)
Description: A simple fighting style which uses burning torches or batons as weapons. In between, spinning or throwing may be involved, mostly for effect or distraction.
Effect: Being hit by a hard, wooden stick hurts. Try being hit by a hard, wooden, burning stick! Well, actually, being hit by it is not an advisable thing to do. One might be lucky and not catch flames, but even then, it still hurts like hell. The more one wears, the higher the probability of it catching fire.
Level learned: Zero, as it is the most basic move
Stat Requirements: 5% strenght, skill 10%

Name: Fire breath
Type: Fire move
Description: By taking a bit of alcohol or other burnable liquid in her mouth, then spewing it out into a flame, a great explosive flame is created.
Effect: Damn dangerous, if you get into contact with this flame, you will burn, and it will hurt, but it should have the biggest effect on the surroundings. If they aer dry and burnable, then it's a safe bet that they'll catch fire, which will give Linette a big advantage, since she knows how to use the fire and avoid being burned. This is very useful in enclosed, tight spaces, where the opponent has little to no room to dodge.
Level learned: zero, basically normal fire breathing, aimed at a person
Stat Requirements: 10% skill, 5% talent

Name: Somersault, Backwards Somersault
Type: Athletic, passive
Description: The fastest way of getting behind the opponent is to simply jump over them, the easiest way to get over an obstacle blocking the path of your heroic fleeing movement is jumping over it. But simply jumping would be boring? Why not try a somersault?
Effect: Aside from looking devilishly good, the somersault does help speed things up and additionally, since it compromises the body, it decreases the risk of being hit or being held up while jumping. Lastly, when used to get behind an opponent, by doing a backwards somersault, Paige lands on her feet and is facing the back of her opponent right away, a perfect bridge to a surprise attack. Additionally, this can be used as a nice stylistic device when, for example, swinging fro one pole to the next...
Level learned: Level Zero, basic athletic technique
Stat Requirements: Agility 10%

Name: Flic Flac
Type: Athletic, passive
Description: A flic flac, backwards or forwards.
Effect: The somersault may be perfect for quickly passing an obstacle, but for getting space between you and your enemy and still look awesomely stylish, better take the flic flac. It's faster than turning and running, but can only be used as a surprise action. To actually try and escape by flic flacing through a city is daring, but dumb, and something Paige would totally do when the ood is right.
Level learned: Level zero, basic athletic technique
Stat Requirements: 10% Agility

-Level one-

Name: Dragon's breath
Type: Fire breathing
Description: The more advanced form of normal fire breathing, with a greater radius since Paige uses more alcohol and a bigger motion for the whole thing. While fire Breath is only one explosive flame, this covers a bigger area, and is more effective in non enclosed spaces.
Effect: Like Fire Breath, with the difference that this is to be used in open spaces, where it has a bigger chance of setting something aflame, or even draw a line between Paige and her attacker, to keep them from pursuing her.
Level learned: Level one
Stat Requirements: 15% Skill, 5% Talent

Name: Flame Wheel
Type: Artisitc/ Weapon move
Description: A rather peculiar thing, and mostly used for distraction or show, this technique needs a pendulum to be set aflame at the tip, then spun around, creating a rather pretty flame circle of death. It is important to have something very burnable like oil at the tip, so that the spinning motions won't put the flame out. Of course, making such amateur mistakes is completely beyond Paige... Or is it?
Effect: Spinning the burning pendulum does not only look very pretty, it is also very tiring to the hand, and especially to the wrist. But it also makes for a good distraction from what's going on in the other hand, which will most likely wield a knife by that time, and can also, if necessary, sometimes be used to disarm the opponent, if it's one of Paige's smart moments (less likely) or if the opponent is just pretty dumb and doesn't get that, if the wire goes around that thingie, it can be pulled out of his hand.
Level learned: Level one
Stat Requirements: 5% talent, 20% skill

-Level two-

Name: Very blunt damage
Type: weapon style
Description: Remember those batons mentioned in Level one? Yes, those can be assembled to a staff. Two of them make on staff, which would be small for a normal person, but hey, Paige just isn't that tall, okay? Anyway, the game's the same, the ends are lit on fire, being hit by it hurts a lot.
Effect: Blunt damage hurts, burning blunt damage hurts, but this blunt damage also looks very decorative. Staff fighting is generally more elegant than baton fighting, and if used in a very underhanded way, it can be used as a distraction, either for someone else to attack, or for a smaller, sly attack with a light weapon that can easily be concealed.... A... phew, let's say.... knife? What a coincidence Paige has one of those, eh?
Level learned: Level two
Stat Requirements: 10% strenght, 20% skill, 5% tactical intelligence,

Name: High kick
Type: weapon/athletic/distraction
Description: The user feigns an uppercut (with or without weapons, though preferably with weapons, since that gets the space necessary between them and their enemy), only to bend back as they would in a flic flac and hit them with their legs instead. Can hurt, can hurt a lot, even, but it's mostly a preparation for a quick flic flac.
Effect: Can be used for simple damage, but since it's a bit risky, long to prepare and leaves one in a practically defenseless position, it should be used as a preparation for a flic flac, to get space between the user and the enemy.
Level learned: level two
Stat Requirements: 5% strenght, agility 20%, skill 10%

Name: Quick Flash
Type: distraction
Description: By lighting a bit of black powder or similiarily burnable things on fire, preferably those that go boom and have nice effects while going up into flames, a bit of confusion can be created.
Effect: Used for distracting the enemy, it can either create openings in their defense, or a chance for making an escape.
Level learned: level two
Stat Requirements: skill 15%, agility 10%, knowledge 5%

-Level three-

Name: Quick jab
Type: distraction, weapon
Description: a flexible technique, the user tries to draw attention to the weapon in one hand, then cause as much damage as possible with the other. For example: attempt to draw attention to the lit Baton, aniticipate the enemys dodge, then jab at them quickly with the knife in the other hand.
Effect: If done right, can effectively take one enemy out, or at least cripple them for the rest of the fight. Can also be repeated by switching the weapon used for distraction with the one used for the actual attack.
Level learned: level three
Stat Requirements: skill 25%, strenght 10%, speed 20%, tactical intelligence 5%

((New techniques will be added as I actually think of them, this is harder than I thought...))

I know it's only to level two right now, but I still need approval for what is there so far. I will update once I get there. I do want to get this whole character creation business over with and get to the actual rping.

For now, it's okay, but you really should increase the number of techniques to keep pace for when Paige levels up... but of course, you know that.

Approved.
