Natick had been an orphan for as long as he could remember. He lived in an orphanage in the desert between two towns. One was a large crossroads city that made money off of trade and also crime. The second was a portside town with several large research facilities that were funded by the World Government to study deserts and arid wastelands in hopes of overcoming these in the New World. Natick was one of the younger children in the orphanage which numbered 16 residents; 12 children, two attendants, a cook, and the orphanage headmistress.

One day, when Natick was 13, a miracle began to occur. It was something that had never happened before in that region; about twice every week, a heavy rain fell in the region of the desert where the orphanage was located. Pretty soon, the deep depressions in the ground were filled with enough water to fill several large pools. The children discovered new past times with the water. The cook was able to begin a garden that lowered the need to buy food from the large trade city and thus the orphanage had more money to spend on improvements. However, the happiness was bought with a price.

The rain was brought about by a variation of dance powder created in the research facility. Dance powder had been specifically banned so the scientists were working to create a more sustainable alternative. However, the clouds that covered the research facility and the orphanage were stolen from the crossroads city which, due to several weeks of unexplained drought, was losing business. The various mobs and crime organizations within the city traced the disappearance of the rain to the facility so a large army of gangsters and hoodlums was assembled to destroy the facility as well as anything in between the two towns. The army quickly did just that. It was raining more than ever in the desert that day. They rode through the desert and set fire to the orphanage along the way. Everyone fled but Natick was the last to leave. An explosion within the orphanage shot a splinter at Natick's face, causing a deep cut horizontally across his cheeks and nose which would later form a scar. The force of the explosion knocked Natick out and through him into one of the pools of water.

When Natick regained consciousness, he saw the aftermath of the passing of the army. The orphanage was no more than a heap of charred beams and the pools of water had mysteriously drained out. However, in the middle of the dried up pool Natick was thrown into, a strange plant had sprouted. The plant bore a single gray grapefruit-shaped fruit. He grabbed the fruit and took a bite without hesitation due to a hunger brought about by fear of death but began to gag because of the taste. Before he could figure out what the fruit was, the Alabasta royal guard arrived to clean up the mess. Natick grew up joining the royal guard and discovered the effects of the fruit he had eaten; the Chiri-Chiri no mi, turning him into a Dust Man.

Natick joined the Reconnaissance division where he learned to use a gun and become a scout. He was versed in diversion and surprise tactics and gained renown as a successful member of the Royal guard. When he was 20, Natick was assigned to spy on a rebel army approaching Alubarna. With the intel Natick gathered, the Royal guard swiftly disposed of the rebel army at the city gates.

While on a secret mission in Alubarna, Natick discovered more dance powder being smuggled into the kingdom and soon discovered that it was purchased because of the corruption within Alabasta's governing body. Natick deserted the royal guard and sought to dispose of the powder. Finding no easy way to dispose of the powder, Natick decided to resort to burning the powder. With tears running down his cheek, Natick set fire to the country's entire stash of powder, unleashing a massive torrent that flooded half the city. The memory of the destruction and hatred brought on by using artificial rain welled up inside Natick and he vowed to rid the world of such illegal substances. He began donning a mask, promising to never reveal his face until his task is accomplished.

> Dust Cloud (塵雲) Creates a highly condensed cloud of dust on which to ride and fly swiftly through the air. Can carry up to 3 people or 200kg.

> Dust Field (塵領域) Scatters dust in the space surrounding a 200 meter radius around the user. It is impossible for anyone to perceive the dust but the user can sense the movements of anything in that 200 meter radius.

> Dust Bomb (塵擲弾) Creates a highly condensed ball of dust the size of a baseball. The ball explodes on contact, releasing a thick, 10 meter wide cloud of dust that greatly reduces visibility, sense of smell, and sense of hearing of anything within the cloud.

> Dust Shroud (塵壁) Creates a thin but highly dense wall of dust that acts as a shield from bullets and completely blocks line of sight. However, wherever a bullet hits, a hole is left in the wall.

>>> Dust Bowl (塵球) Creates a cloud of dust which envelops everything within up to a 100 meter radius around the user. Visibility, sense of smell, and sense of hearing of anything and anyone except the user inside of the cloud is greatly reduced.

>>> Dust Column (塵桁) Creates a column of fast-swirling dust. The columns spin at such a speed as be able to easily shred anything nonmetal. The columns can also be manipulated by the user to move however he likes and increase its length up to 150meters but the column must maintain its tunnel shape and its base cannot move. Up to three columns can exist at a time.

> Dust Mimic (塵倣) Creates a dust clone of anyone or anything though the clones do not move or function on their own and are extremely fragile. There is no limit as to how many clones exist at a time. Two human-sized clones can be created each post.

> Dust Pistol (塵弾) Creates a highly condensed shell around a finger and launches the shell at a target. The shell moves as fast as a bullet but despite its name, is only as strong as a strong poke.

>> Dust Shotgun (塵散弾銃) Creates highly condensed shells around all 10 fingers and launches the shells at targets. The shell moves as fast as shotgun rounds but despite its name, is only as strong as several strong pokes.

>>>Dust Bazooka (塵バズーカ) Creates a highly condensed shell around one or both hands and launches the shells at a target. Each shell moves as fast as a bazooka round but despite its name, is only as strong as a strong punch. Explodes into a small cloud of dust where it makes contact.

> Dust Bunny (塵兎) Creates a small, animate rabbit made entirely out of dust. They can only move within the bounds of a regular rabbit but user can control them remotely. Wherever the bunny runs, it leaves a continuous trail of dust behind it. There is no limit how many Dust Bunnies can exist at a time. Up to three dust bunnies can be created each post except when Dust Mimic has already been used.

>> Dust Snake (塵蛇) Creates a thin but highly dense rope of dust that makes its way toward the target and try to bind a single body part (leg, arm, hand). The snake acts as a shackle that restricts movement in bound body parts. Can be easily removed with water. Can be explosively removed with fire.

> Dust Flare (塵燃す) Used in combination with Dust Bomb, Dust Mimic, Dust Bazooka, Dust Bunny, or Dust Snake. User aims and shoots at targets that are enveloped in dust or the dust itself. Because his guns are loaded with incendiary rounds, the bullets ignite the dust when they make contact and cause an explosion.

> Spinning Dust cutter (塵旋刀) Creates a gauntlet of dust on each arm stretching from the forearm and coming to a point 10cm past the fingers, forming a blade that is constantly vibrating at an extremely high speed. The blades act like chainsaws and are able to disintegrate anything they come in contact with that is weaker than pure steel. The user is unable to use any other DF ability at the same time due to the sheer concentration required to control the blades.
