Flash Saber Claws Empty

Weapon Name: Quartz Saber Claws
Description: A pair of claws that extend from under Silas's coat sleeves when he throws his arms outwards. The claws, designed by him, are made of damascus steel. The blades are also coated with a material that ignites to super high temperatures when struck on objects. The struck object can be as hard as steel or as soft as cotton to make the coating ignite. The slices by the blades open wounds, then cauterizes them, although leaving very heavy burns around the wound. The strikes also light up the area in a distinct piercing white or silver light, like the color of burning magnesium. The claws continue to burn with the same bright white color until they die out in about 5 seconds. Constant attacks will keep the burning and ultra bright light going. Warning, contact with water while striking can produce EXTREME reactions.

I've never heard of a coating that lights metal surfaces spontaneously on fire like that. How does it work? What's it made out of?
