Appearance:
Harumi is a girl that stands just around 5’7’’, rather small compared to others, but that doesn’t stop her for being fierce when teased of her height. She has auburn hair that is cut right below her ears in a wavy bob, her bangs held away from her face with a navy blue and black brooch. Her eyes are the color of melted chocolate mixed with dark red wine, but holding a kindness to them that isn’t found in other marines. She has a fair complexion and a subtle beauty that is sometimes disregarded by most but prized by others.
She has scars in different parts of her body: Two diagonal ones across her back that were made by a sharp blade, a teardrop under her left eye from a sudden attack from her “pet”, several criss-crossing her arms and legs due to extensive training, and the last one right across her right eye, which she covers with a black eyepatch with a face of a chibi cat on it.
A birth mark shaped like a turtle can be found on her back, in the right shoulder.
When she’s not wearing her marine uniform she tends to dress herself with pants and the occasional skirts depending on the weather, of colors dark and preferring black, red, green and blue as the colors of her choice, with embroidered white shirts with different patterns, some with butterflies, others with black skulls, and others with cats, all matching their respective bottoms, and always wearing black Japanese Style Knee Highs with everything.
History:
Harumi is the second born from a normal family of merchants that like to travel the seven seas almost as much as pirates would. Unlike other merchants though their "stand" was there boat, and the "customers" were anybody near enough to see their ship that was used to attract any types of customers. Whether it be pirates, marines or others they tried their best to fulfill their requests and not let anybody leave empty-handed.
You may ask yourself that if they served both parties that were enemies to one another, how come her parents were even alive still? Well, that is because they never sell to pirates and marines at the same time. Sure, the pirates knew that Harumi's parents sold their merchandise to Marines and vice-versa, but as long as they kept on bringing in the goods they wouldn't mess with them. How often do you see a floating market at sea? It's pretty convenient when you don't have any place to dock for a while.
The girl at age four was already helping out her parents along with her older brother with the business, and was really fascinated with the different people that arrived to their boat to buy things from her parents. Sometimes she would be surprised when one would come up to her and her brother, either pirate or marine, and tell them some adventure they've been to or what pirate they had captured along the way.
At age 7 Harumi was already helping her father and brother stock up on supplies when they would head onto shore to re-supply. This was only with man-made essential items like medicine, parchment, and the like that they can't make on their own. While her brother and father got the items ready, little Haru roamed the market and looked around, amazed at the different items and people. Then she stopped when she noticed one of them was calling to her and had offered to swap the fruit he had in his hand for the bracelet she had on. The bracelet was something she had made and she was rather hungry, so she swapped the piece of fruit for her bracelet and walked away.
The fruit was odd in appearance and shape, but it didn't matter to her so she just munched on it as she walked to where her brother and father were. They were shocked to say the least when they found her eating the Devil Fruit as she came back from her sightseeing and wondered what kind she had eaten. They didn't think any of it for now as they finished and went to their ship to load everything on and leave.
What they found back at their ship was just too much for the siblings that their father had to cover their eyes while he himself forced back tears. Their ship, form of income and home was burning down to the ground, and what was worse was that their mother, his wife, was still in there, probably burning alive inside while they were out there watching all of it take place. It felt like forever as they just stood there watching.
Then everything happened so fast. Marines came out of nowhere and apprehended their father while grabbing them before they got away. Her brother, Miharu, wouldn't relent and bit one of the Marine's hands, using that time to escape and mix himself with the crowd in the market. Before Harumi could do that herself and escape, she was knocked out and dragged along with her father to the ship.
When she came to the girl found herself bound and with little space to move about as she faced the leader of the ship. She had asked what had happened to her father, and just bit back her tears when he calmly told her that due to someone snitching at the higher ups, her parents had to be arrested and for helping out pirates for a long time and not telling the Marines about it, executed. The fire was an accident they couldn't do anything about, and her father would soon follow suit at the hands of his crew.
