Oswaldo the Giraffe Empty
PostSubject: Oswaldo the Giraffe   Oswaldo the Giraffe Icon_minitimeFri Jul 04, 2008 1:44 am

Name: Oswaldo the Giraffe

Age: Unknown

Bounty: 100,000 Belli

Species: Giraffe

Occupation: Pet/ Musician

Allegiance: Corkscrew Pirates

Home Village/Ocean: Some Jungle in the South blue

Appearance: A Giraffe, first and foremost. He wears three bowties going down his neck, and one around his tail. On his hooves he wears horseshoes that are spiked like running cleats.

History: Oswaldo was the loyal companion to the late, “great” captain Corkscrew who bought him as a baby (one of many things he’d bought while drunk). The captain loved the Giraffe and its “beautiful” singing voice, the giraffe was taught not to start or stop singing unless Captain Corkscrew gave him the command. When the captain died Oswaldos’ reality was torn and depression overwhelmed him, he began to sing willy-nilly to try to lift his spirits, but no one could stop him because the captain had never said how. The entire crew was driven into madness, especially the new captain, spiral Blackshanks. Oswaldo was later befriended by the new first mate Cuddy Flam, and he became the only one who could calm Oswaldo down. Of course he continued to sing whenever he wanted, driving captain spiral further and further into insanity. The ability to calm the Giraffe down earned Cuddy the position as first mate.

After the separation of the Corkscrews, Oswaldo found himself floating out in the sea with no land for miles around. He swam for days, making no progress. On the fifth day at sea he was hit with a big storm, by then he had no energy to fight it and even with his long neck he couldn’t keep himself above the raging waves. Oswaldo blacked out, and was carried away by the sea.
Oswaldo woke up on the shore of a land unknown to him, looking around he could see a ship not far from where he was, he shakily got to his feet (or hooves) and ventured toward it. When he reached the ship he made an attempt to contact the ships crew with a song, no one replied as the ship was empty. He circled the boat until he found ramp that led up to the deck of the ship which he could use to board it. Once on board he began to look for food, having lived on a ship his whole life he now assumed a ship was the only place to find it. No food could be found save for a large fruit within a glass case, Oswaldo pushed the case off the desk it was sitting on with his nose and happily consumed the fruit, it had an awful taste, but he was to hungry to care.
As he finished the last bite of fruit, a man in a marine uniform walked in the door holding a large bag of food. When the man noticed the Giraffe that had just eaten his grand treasure he immediately dropped the bag and chased Oswaldo from the ship, unbeknown to Oswaldo the ship he boarded was a Marine vessel that had stopped to pick up food, and he had just eaten the Devil fruit they had planned to sell. In an attempt to get the marine to stop chasing him, Oswaldo turned and began to sing him a song but instead of music, a large beam fired from his mouth blowing a large hole in the Marine ship. Oswaldo had eaten the Goe Goe no Mi, which brought about the blast of sound and earned him a 100,000 belli bounty.
The sad Giraffe hid in the forests of the island, singing sad Giraffe songs to himself and wishing to be back with the Corkscrews. One morn while wandering through the forest singing a bit louder than he had been, he was heard by group of traveling musicians who were drawn to his unusual songs. They found Oswaldo and invited him onto their ship were he spent the next five years, singing and honing his vocal skills and with them his devil fruit ability.
One night during a show aboard the musicians’ concert ship, Oswaldos’ voice carrying on across the moon lit sea; he was heard by a small boat a few miles off. As Oswaldo was about to sing the last few bars, he heard his name called to him from the small boat, the voice was familiar to him. As the boat drew nearer he could see that it was Cuddy who had called to him, with him were a few of the other Corkscrews. Oswaldo ran from the stage, leaving all aboard the concert ship confused, and disappointed. He leapt straight from the ship and landed on the small boat, having a tearful reunion with Cuddy. Oswaldo was home once more.

Personality: Oswaldo has a strong feeling of entitlement, and believes himself to be a cut above the rest. For the most part he can’t be made to do anything; he simply does as he pleases. He finds a sadistic pleasure in pestering people.

Ship: The Bottle-neck

Ship Flag: Drunk, swirly eyed skull, missing teeth, tongue sticking out, blushing, and crossed with a bottle and corkscrew.

Devil Fruit: Goe Goe no Mi

Special Abilities: Since training under the traveling musicians (who get no name or back-story), Oswaldos’ singing has gone from intolerable to beautiful. He can also manipulate his voice to create sound effects, sound like other animals, and he can even sound like people (with out saying words because he’s a Giraffe). He can be quick on his feet when he feels the need.

Learned Techniques:
Mule Kick- Oswaldo stands on his front legs and kicks the target behind him with his hind legs. This coupled with his spiked Horseshoes is a painful blow.

Neck swing- As most of us know, Giraffes fight with their necks, Oswaldo is no exception. He will swing his neck at a foe hitting them with his neck or head, depending on their height.

Trample- Oswaldo will run at the foe, attempting to trample them under his hooves.

Giraffe Solo- Oswaldo sings out a tune releasing the energy of the Goe Goe no mi. The intensity of the blast changes based on his song, if he sings in a higher pitch the resulting blast will be very condensed, if he sings lower the blast will be very wide and spread out, but less powerful.

Echo- Oslwado bounces a sound blast off of something.

Weapons/Items: Spiked horse shoes

Goals: He wants people to appreciate his voice so he can die a happy giraffe and meet his beloved master in the afterlife and, once again, sing to him.
