PostSubject: Martin Sarceau   Martin Sarceau Icon_minitimeFri Mar 26, 2010 9:40 pm

Name: Martin Sarceau

Age: 26 years

Bounty: none

Species: Human

Occupation: Sharpshooter

Allegiance: Poacher of 'WilliE Bag n Tag Corporated' poachers

Home Village/Ocean: Warship island, East Blue

Appearance: Has a relatively well built body (not too bulky) but still appears lanky and slim. He has bleached blonde hair, which is quite unkempt (with hair sprouting up off his head like blades of blonde grass), reaches down to his neck and sports a veil of blonde hair that shrouds his right eye and reaches all the way diagonally to his lower right cheek. His eyes are a light, hazy blue, and his lower eyelids sag down (eye bags) under his eyes. his skin is a little sun tanned, sporting a light tan tone. He is not clean shaven, and some face fuzz is visible around his mouth and lower cheeks. He has an remarkably slim neck, and his shoulders are not very wide. His arms and legs are lanky but built noticeably (not to a superhuman level). Wears a plain white button up shirt with a dark red tie loosely worn, hanging about 2 centimeters down from the collar. His sleeves are cuffed at his elbows. Wears a backpack on his back which is secured to him with a chest to arm harness (like a schoolbag strapped on with a waistbelt.) Waist down, he wears a dull blue pair of long trousers, which end at both ankles cuffed. His hands are covered by gloves, which cover all of his palm and fingers except for his his fingertips, his knuckles and a space which exposes a 4 by 3 cm patch of skin on his back hands. He usually wears brown leather shoes on his feet, but when he takes them off (which he does often) his feet are quite scarred around his soles and his heel.

History: Born as an only child to a common couple that lived at the outskirts of Warship island's resident village, he grew up listening to his mother and father argue with each other. They screamed, his father, a retired marine beat his mother up, and vice versa. This frequent inter family violence was so loud and violent, the Village Elder moved them there, close by the sea. Martin also managed to feel the brunt of his parent's wrath, as they sometimes vented their frustration out on him, by word and fist. The young boy then always felt despair and fear, each passing hour bringing the possibility of either mother or father walking into his room, and new pain of body, mind and soul experienced. Then one day, he looked up, one fine clear day, at a clear, blue sky, on his 7th birthday, fresh after a round of beating at the hands of his father; he had never bothered to glance at the sky before, but now he had, he felt becalmed, and felt all his bruises and fractured bones very little of not at all; the sky was peaceful, blue and pure, mixed with white swirls he knew were clouds. He gazed at that sky he had never bothered to look at before, and kept doing so. No matter how bad things were with his parents, he didn't care anymore. The moment he looked up at that azure blanket, he had stopped caring about anything at all. Even when his parents died strangling each other and falling off a cliff into the sea, he didn't even blink. Now alone, he continued to gaze at the sky, by day, by night, by rain and shine. Then one year later, he realized a startling fact; "I'm just looking at some place that I like, so why not try to go there?" and then, he noticed the warship rock rising from behind the village, and for 2 years he would climb up the monument, just to gaze at the sky even closer. Occasionally he would recall some past agonies, but every time he looked down at the world below the rock formation's visage, overlooking the islands, seas and the occasional passing ship, such worries meant nothing to him, as if he was never part of such an agonizing existence.

On the 12th year of his life, he left the island of his own accord; Martin had decided that he would like to climb higher and higher towards the sky, and he would do so by finding the tallest places ever known, and he would scale them, in order to reach new heights and view his beloved sky even closer. The only possession he took from his now empty household was a long distance spyglass belonging to his father. He stowed away on many ships to get to many places. The he would always climb up to the crow's nest of every ship he stowed away upon. During these voyages and in between such voyages he would spy everything in the sky from the lens of his spyglass. Being bad at employed jobs, he turned to hunting for his food in the wilds of each island and land he went to, and where such wilds were not present, he scraped through garbage for food, and occasionally steal. He became very adept at spotting animals and or rich people, and would guess each route each target would take, and intercept them; naturally, he would choose the highest point of each urban or wild environment to spot prey.

When he was 19, he arrived at an old and run down town, pitted with marshes and blanketed with mist. Poverty and crime was rife in the streets and alleys, yet Martin had spotted something of interest; a castle at the far edge of the island. The castle seemed abandoned, yet also had marines guarding the structure. But what had caught Martin's eye, however, was a relatively big mounted crossbow on the upper outer walls; in a heart beat he knew that he needed to have that weapon; after sneaking past most of the guards and scaling the walls, he simply dragged the big crossbow along with him.

Later that year, on a tropical island, he sat atop a hill, as usual hunting for food when he felt hungry, and gazing at the sky when otherwise. After a while, he decided to hunt for more prey. He scanned the jungle with his spyglass, and spotted an odd creature rushing through the undergrowth. Not caring for what it was, he took aim, and held his trigger finger steady. just as he was about to fire, however, he spotted a coyote wearing a hat and a jacket jump out of the bushes next to the beast; Martin watched as the coyote and a man with two long machetes take the beast down and capture it. The coyote then sniffed, and turned his head towards Martin. Grinning wildly, Martin began firing at them from his high spot. The coyote lithely dodged the bolts, zig zagging through the jungle, while a bolt or two caught the machete wielder's foot. The coyote reached the summit, and rushed at Martin, instantly changing into a humanoid coyote, and raising his clawed paws, ready for an instant strike. But he stopped abruptly, stunned, at the sight of Martin, even though his claws were at his neck, sitting cross legged on the ground, with his crossbow aimed right up at his face, grinning manically at him. The coyote was silent, then laughed, drawing back and changing into a human; he introduced himself as Willard Entoi Cortez, and introduced the now-angry-as-hell Gary 'The Gator' Finch, who then, with a bleeding foot, tried to lop Martin's head off in a fit of rage. Willard explained his line of business; the head of a fairly recent poaching business, 'WilliE Bag n Tag live delivery services'. Willard then stated that he was impressed at Martin's sharpshooter capabilities, and requested him to join them. Martin rather flatly refused, even though his face was still looking up at the blue sky.

For the next few days or so, Martin trekked out of the jungle, gazing upwards at the sky. He did not even notice or care when Willard and Gator tailed him (against Gator's will) until they finally reached the sea. By now, Willard had pointed out many reasons that Martin would like to join his establishment; good pay, good booze, and good women. Regardless of what he said, however, Martin didn't even notice him, or notice the various insults thrown at him by Gator. There, they faced pirates on the shore; they surrounded the three men and the captured beast, demanding that they hand over the 'monkey spider', and began attacking, unleashing a sea king on them from the water; the entire crew was butchered in a minute and Willard faced and soundly crushed the captain; The sea king was wild and violent, but was killed as well. Gator proved to be a powerful swordsman, but Martin skillfully punctured both the beast's eyes from a rock with two well placed bolts. After that, he resumed staring at the sky, as if nothing had happened. Finally, Willard got up, understanding what Martin wanted; he then told Martin about a land called Skypiea, a kingdom in the sky; deciding against telling him how to get there (for obvious reasons) Willard negotiated with Martin that if he joined his business as a member, he would get to go there. This piqued Martin's interest, and he accepted. For the rest of those years, he perfected his hunting skills, and became the prime sharpshooter and spotter for the 'WilliE' poaching group.

Personality:Is always dreamy and detached; this sensation is commonly known as a 'high', yet it is clear that he is always naturally like this. With an omnipotent little smile, he never focuses on anything other than the sky, unless he's on a job. He tends to hum and speak random quotes or tunes to himself, and is almost never aware of anything around him at all; to him, all that exists is the sky, unless he is on the hunt. Loves to climb up to high ground, and once he spots a tall structure, nothing stops him from getting to it. On high ground and on the hunt, he delights in sniping his targets from above, displaying a very curved grin that reaches all the way up his left cheek. To him, being on the highest ground means having the most advantage, though he thinks of it in terms of his targets below him as nothing but ants; ants to be picked off one by one. Once he has identified a target, he never lets them escape his sight, unless he happens upon faster targets, which he enjoys trying to pin down. Whenever he is in a pinch, Martin never panics; when he misses or lets his target get too close to his position, he grimaces with distaste and will simply re-adjust sniping tactics. He will even aim at outrageous angles in very uncalled for stances and postures. When his enemies get too close or attack from the side, however, Martin makes like the wind and retreats. He knows when he has been outmatched in a heart beat.

Ship: Shank Marlin

Ship Flag: Has a red outline of a coyote holding a tied bag in one paw and a thumbs up in another on a blue and white striped background, with a capital W and E on either end of the flag.

Devil Fruit: none
type: none
effect: none

Special Abilities: He is an adept tactician, and can read his targets well. He is adept at climbing sheer faces up until incredible heights. He never lets a target out of his sight, and will relentlessly scan the ground below for his target, even when they are taking cover, he is always predicting the path his target might take across the terrain. He is used to such a large and heavy weapon, and ca thus reload surprisingly fast, with 2 or three bolts already at hand. For Devil fruit users, he switches his ammo type to sea stone tipped bolts and depending on who or what the target is (animal or human) he will attempts to seal their movements with steady crossbow fire.

Learned Techniques (Keep it 1-25): his shots are not named; they are simply strategies to pin differing targets down.

Weapons/Items: Long ranged crossbow: Ever since he took it from the castle, he has had to modify the weapon considerably (with the grudging assistance of Gator), he made the crossbow capable of being taken apart and put back together again, in order to make it easier to carry. The weapon can fire as far as 2 miles with enough force for it to travel that maximum distance and still penetrate a rock; with that advantage, however, comes a very significant disadvantage; the force of recoil on the weapon is so powerful, one shot and the whole trigger hand arm gets paralyzed from a sensation akin to shell shock. Shock absorbing pads are placed on the butt end and trigger handle of the crossbow, but that padding absorbs only 1/3rd of the total recoil.

Impact dials (6 total; number can be adjusted if found to be too much.)To counteract his primary weapon's recoil, Martin has an impact dial strapped to his right palm's glove; this helps absorb the generally violent recoil produced by each shot. Each dial can withstand up to 4 shots worth of recoil, and with 6 dials he has 24 shots to fully fill all impact dials up with recoil energy. Once all dials are full, it becomes dangerous and harmful to carry on shooting. Thus, the number of shots fired are limited not by ammo, but rather by the available impact dials he can carry at a time.

regular crossbow: for when he has to retreat when he does use up his impact dials. fires regular bolts, and is basically just a regular weapon. Is tipped with a bayonet.

Long bolts: 1 metre long bolts; they vary as followed:
Poison bolts: bolts tipped with paralysing poison. Used to capture big game in the hunt, but can be used in a battle to stun opponents.

Net bolts: Bolts that split into 4 pieces through the center vertically and spread out a net that is around 5 by 6 metres in length and width. These are used when the rest of the team have cornered a severely wounded target. The net is not extraordinarily durable, however, and may hold any target for 30 minutes (around 5 posts) before they break out.

Sea stone tipped bolts: For one of those random encounters with devil fruit users. Any part of a devil fruit user they hit will weaken the user, and that part of the body will be unable to use the devil fruit ability.

Parachute back pack: when he's in a hurry to get down from each high spot he uses for sniping. It also holds his ammo and impact dials.

Goals: To reach Skypiea, then reach somewhere higher than Skypiea, then keep going higher and higher up.

Can you explain your prediction move? It is not something that we allow to occur.

hmm............well, its not actually anything special. He simply takes a look at the terrain, and takes a look at the position of his target, and tries to deduce where they will go and where they will hide; this actually works for animals and beasts, but not human opponents (unless that animal was a devil fruit user). Is this skill unreasonable? Is it best to take out?

Then don't give him a flat 50% chance to determine what will happen next. Just say he's a tactician and/or good at reading people and roleplay his thought process.
